Kathmandu || The opening of the GO e-stop in Kurintar marks a significant milestone in enhancing the highway travel experience in Nepal, featuring the largest privately owned EV charging station in the country. Inaugurated by Mr. Kulman Ghising, Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, the event underscored the importance of sustainable infrastructure in promoting electric vehicle (EV) use and supporting Nepal’s net-zero carbon emission goals. The Kurintar e-stop offers advanced EV charging stations, a restaurant, and clean public restrooms, catering to the needs of modern travellers.
Mr. Rajan Rayamajhi, Chairman of the GO group, highlighted the project’s transformative role in highway travel and its contribution to reducing carbon emissions. With the capacity to charge 12 vehicles simultaneously, the station charges 15 Nepali Rupees per unit consumed. This facility not only addresses the charging needs of EVs but also provides travellers with essential amenities, thus enhancing the overall travel experience.
The event concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and discussions on the future of sustainable travel in Nepal.
